Summary: Great Races & Great Fun.
First things first -- if you didn't attend, you missed out on what was
quite possibly the best racing you will see in a long time. There were
lots of close races -- one elimination race decided by .003 seconds and
the final by .02 seconds. There were very few races that ended in
disabled cars, and even blue smoke pouring out of the back of the car
didn't mean you were out or done for the day!
The day started on a potentially sour note after Chuong's four door
dispatched 4th gear to the land of no return, but with the help of the
RevLine crew, a new transmission was swapped in the pits in record time.
This allowed Chuong to continue qualifying -- which was great considering
that Saturday (the day before the event) was spent putting a new
motor/turbo in after the previous setup fed piston to the valve train and
turbo after the sleeve dropped .005 inches only days earlier.
Pretty much all of our cars qualified top 5 of the field except for one, and
as you can imagine, in addition to a great showing by all involved, that
resulted in huge fun in the eliminations, not to mention the blast
everyone had in qualifying. The story of the night for us was Joel
taking it all the way to final and putting in one hell of an effort,
falling only .02 short of the heads up victor from South Dakota --
another example of the kind of racing that was going on all night.
Congrats Joel on the great showing and ensuring that if not 1st, a
ridiculously close 2nd, and a great showing for RevLine and KC in
general.
A special thanks to all those who came out in support of RevLine and kept
spirits high and the atmosphere light during emergency tranny swaps and
an intense day of close racing.
